Want to make Port Washington and Saukville better? Join us.

The Rotary Club of Port Washington - Saukville is a group of neighbors who meet three times a month, volunteer together, and raise money for local causes. You don't need a job title, a business, or a Rotary connection to join. You need to be an adult who wants to help this community.

Rotary is a worldwide network of service clubs. Each club chooses its own projects. Ours include the following:

  • Improving trails and planting native species at the Sauk Creek Nature Preserve
  • Funding local groups, such as the Ozaukee Food Alliance, the Port Washington Historical Society, and Badger Boys State and Badger Girls State
  • Volunteering at Port Washington's Fish Days
  • Supporting Rotary's worldwide effort to end polio

Members also gain friends, leadership experience, and a link to Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries.

How to join

You don't need to know a member to join. Every new member has a sponsor, and we pair you with one.

  1. Fill out the Membership Inquiry form.
  2. Visit a meeting as our guest. Your meal is free.
  3. Meet your sponsor, a current member who answers your questions and introduces you to the club.
  4. Choose a membership level and apply. The club Board reviews each application, usually within four weeks.

If you already know a member, ask them to sponsor you.

Meetings

The club meets three Wednesdays a month at Tulip Cafe, inside Hollander Chocolate Co., 1180 S Spring St, Port Washington.

  • First Wednesday: lunch at noon

  • Second Wednesday: breakfast at 7:30 AM

  • Third Wednesday: breakfast at 7:30 AM

Most meetings include a guest speaker. The club doesn't meet on the fourth or fifth Wednesday.

Dues cover the member's meal. Members can bring guests and prospective members eat free.

What we ask of members

Rotary's motto is "Service Above Self." Members give time as well as dues.

  • Fish Days. Every member volunteers one shift at Fish Days, Port Washington's annual summer festival. Members fill roles such as frying fish, taking orders, and cleaning up after the event. Fish Days is one of the club's main fundraisers. If you can't take a shift, the club might bill you up to $100 to replace the proceeds.
  • Final Four. Final Four is the club's annual fundraising event. The club hosts a dinner, raffle, and all-around good time during the NCAA championship basketball game. Each member's dues include $100 in Final Four tickets.
  • District grant project. Each year the club takes on a hands-on service project, funded in part by a Rotary district grant. The project changes each year, and the grant requires members to take part. This year, members are improving trails and planting native species at the Sauk Creek Nature Preserve.
  • Other service. We encourage members to join other fundraisers and service projects during the year.

The club doesn't require meeting attendance. We strongly encourage it, so you stay up to date and get to know other members.

Membership levels and dues

The club offers several membership levels so that cost doesn't keep anyone from serving.

  • Individual: $1,000 per year. For any adult who wants to join. Club dues are $200 per quarter.
  • Family: $440 per year. For partners and adult children in an Individual member's household. Club dues are $60 per quarter.
  • Organization: $1,000 per year for the first member, $440 for each additional member. For people who work for or belong to a local organization. Club dues are $200 per quarter for the first member and $60 for each additional member.
  • Service: $600 per year. For adults for whom full dues are a barrier. Club dues are $100 per quarter.
  • Community Leader: $440 per year. For local leaders invited by the club Board. Club dues are $60 per quarter.

Each annual total has three parts:

  • Club dues. Dues pay the club's operating costs.
  • The Rotary Foundation, $25 per quarter. The Rotary Foundation is Rotary's charity. It funds service projects here and around the world.
  • Final Four, $100 per year. This amount buys your tickets to the club's annual fundraiser.

Individual

Individual membership is the standard membership. Individual members can attend all meetings.

Family

Family membership is for the partner and adult children of an Individual member who live in the same household. Family members can attend all meetings.

  • The first member in the household must pay full Individual dues.
  • Each additional family member pays $60 per quarter in club dues, plus the Rotary Foundation and Final Four amounts.
  • A household can have up to four members, including the first.
  • The family rate doesn't apply if the first member pays a reduced rate or holds an Organization membership.

Organization

Organization membership is for people who work for, or are affiliated with, an organization in Port Washington or Saukville. Organization members can attend all meetings.

  • The first member from the organization pays the same dues as an Individual member.
  • Each additional member pays $60 per quarter in club dues, plus the Rotary Foundation and Final Four amounts.
  • An organization can have up to four members, including the first.
  • The club can bill the organization directly.

Service

Service membership lowers dues for people who want to join but can't afford full dues. In exchange, Service members volunteer more time.

  • Service members volunteer for four shifts of four hours each year. A Fish Days shift counts as one.
  • Service members can attend all meetings.
  • The Board approves each Service membership for one year at a time, for up to three years in a row.
  • The club offers a limited number of Service memberships each year.
  • To ask about Service membership, use the Contact Us page.

Community Leader

The club Board invites active community leaders to join at this level. Community Leader members may attend one meeting a month.

Honorary

The club grants Honorary membership to members who reach 50 years in Rotary. Honorary members pay only the $25 quarterly Rotary Foundation contribution.

Billing

The club bills dues each quarter, to you or to your organization. Pay by personal check or business check when you receive the bill. Electronic payment isn't available yet. We're working on adding it.
