To continue our journey in exploring Rotary International's history, way back in 1962, the first Interact Club was formed for youth to develop leadership skills. 1965 brought Rotary International's support of global and district grants to support on-the-ground projects. (Our club makes sure to take advantage of these yearly grants!) That same year, Group Study Exchange began for business professionals to visit other countries to meet other business colleagues. Following the Interact Club philosophy, Rotaract Clubs began in 1968 to foster leadership and service in college-age young adults. In years to follow, the Rotary Youth Exchange began, and programs to develop health, hunger and humanitarian rights started. Many of these programs are still active today and are part of Rotary's 7 Areas of Service. To read more about Rotary's history, including the expanding of Rotary's global services, click here.
Are you interested in becoming more involved in PW-S Rotary? We are seeking Board Members to fulfill the President-Elect position and Secretary-Treasurer position. If we do not have anyone to fulfill this role, the future of the Club will change dramatically. If you are interested in serving as Club in either of these roles, please contact Amanda or any board member to discuss time requirements and responsibilities.
