Rotary International has a long and storied history. Hard to believe 7 years after the founding of Rotary in 1905, Rotary's first international branch was founded in Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada. Later that year, Rotary expanded to London, England, in August 1912. Soon after, more and more Clubs in continental Europe were formed and joined Rotary. Sure enough, more clubs were formed in South America, Asia, and Africa. Surprisingly, what is known today as the Rotary Foundation was formed in 1917, with the Rotary Club of Kansas City, MO making the first donation of $26.50 (almost $720 in today's dollars!).
