We continue to explore Rotary's vibrate history! Hard to believe it was 40 years ago Rotary's PolioPlus initiative began. Today, Polio is only endemic to Pakistan and Afghanistan. rotary continues its work to eradicate Polio all together. In 1987, women were officially allowed to join Rotary Clubs throughout the US following a decision by the US Supreme Court. By 1989, women are joining Rotary Clubs world-wide. In 1988, Rotary is the founding member of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, increasing world-wide dedication to eradicating Polio. Jump to 1999, and Rotary creates the Rotary Centers for International Studies in peace and conflict resolution. Its inaugural class starts in 2002. By 2004, Rotary created the Arch Klump Society, which recognizes people and organizations who donate $250,000+ to the Rotary Foundation.
